Today will not come again

Recently, possibly as part of my becoming self-aware "journey", I came to realize that there is a consistent undercurrent to many of my thoughts.

To boil it down...Things don't last forever. They run out. Things are lost. Our time is finite.

Sometimes it can be pretty annoying. I notice myself wishing I hadn't closed the garage door when I then had to go back outside soon after...thinking "There goes another one of the 10000 open/close cycles..wasted!"

Other times, I find great value in this train of thought. It really makes me cherish my time with my wife and child. On a daily basis, I do not take for granted the time I have with them. It is hard for me to express the gratitude I feel when I realize how great a gift that is.

This view on life is echoed, in my interpretation, in the words of the great singer/song-writer Ben Harper.

If things go as I hope, I plan on letting my deeper side show on this site. I have had other blogs in the past, but the content I intend to add here really required me make a "fresh start".

In the past, I have blogged for profit, notoriety, or perhaps both. The sole purpose here is to share my "gooey center" ;).

So, if you are at least a little curious to see what I'm thinking, be prepared for some non-chronological yet heartfelt musings about my past/present/future.
